“Gary's visit was a powerful reminder that no obstacle should remain unchallenged and that no person should be dismissed without the opportunity to prove what their passion and determination can accomplish.” IBM

Help Stop School and Drug Violence! "Do the Write Thing"

Gary Guller will be arriving and speaking to students, teachers and parents at the DtWT Leadership Summit dinner in Austin, Texas this coming Saturday, June 12 2010. Great organisation, love it and I look forward to sharing all of my best energy with all. Thank you. By emphasizing personal responsibility, the DtWT program also educates adults about the causes of youth violence. Local community groups promote the program at the grassroots level so that teachers, school administrators, parents, coaches, and young people can bring youth violence into the open, where it can be examined and talked about in a constructive way.

The Challenge is a writing project for middle-school students that helps equip them with the relational tools necessary to build healthy, productive lives and become civic-minded citizens. It involves schools, parents and communities in coordinated and collaborative outgrowth and outreach efforts. There are nine Challenge sites in major metropolitan areas of Texas.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Texas Do the Write Thing Challenge is to protect our young people from violence, illicit drug use and other anti-social behaviors and influences by providing a venue in schools for them to personally commit to be constructive, productive and civic-minded citizens. This effort involves parents, schools, communities and policy makers in initiatives to increase safety, reduce risky conduct and enhance the learning environment.
